Another protest was held in North Mitrovica today against the introduction of 100% customs duties on products from Serbia and the arrest of three Serbs in North Mitrovica in connection with the murder of Oliver Ivanovic. The chief of Srpska Lista, Goran Rakic said that Serbs are being held by Pristina as „political hostages who are spending both nights and days unjustly detained in jail.“ The director of the Student Centre, Jovo Popovic also sent support to Srpska Lista Vice-President, Milan Radoicic – „the force of resistance and freedom in this region“.

The former Mayor of North Mitrovica, Goran Rakic sent a warning about „the incoming humanitarian catastrophe”. He also addressed “the silence of the international community and the world“, as well as „cries for help“ and “pleading” of the Serbian people.

Pointing to the building where the EULEX representative office is located, Rakic said: „Although their office is right behind your back, they remain silent and blind.“

He ordered them to stop with „hypocritical blackmail“ and „neglecting basic human rights“, while adding, „Feel free to open the curtains, we will not harm you, we only want our rights, we want freedom.“

„They (Pristina) are still holding the recently arrested Serbs as political hostages who are spending their nights and days unjustly detained in jail,“ Rakic said, referring to the three Serbs arrested in connection with the murder of Oliver Ivanovic.

The international community is still shamefully silent, it observes as Pristina threatens new measures, penalties on a daily basis, trying to strike terror into our hearts in the worst possible way, all with the goal of Serbs buying a one-way ticket and leaving their homes (Rakic)

The director of the Student Centre of Pristina University, Jovo Popovic also condemned the tax increase.

Popovic said that 1.700 students live in the Student Center, where “4000-5000 meals are distributed daily” and warned that “the goods and products from Serbia are running out”.

He emphasized that they are not only defending the academic community, and expressed his support to Milan Radoicic – „the force of resistance and freedom in these areas”, as well as to the „arrested and beaten fellow citizens“.

The director of the pre-school „Lane“ from Zvecan, Zorica Keljanovic said that Serb children grow up to be “noble, peaceful people” and asked, „what do the children of those who forbid food to our children grow up to be – greedy, thieving“.

Keljanovic also addressed The EU, officials of the European Community, and UNICEF – „the international organization that should take care of the standard and quality of life for all children,“ asking them, where are they now, why are they closing their eyes, why are they watching this humanitarian catastrophe, and why are they not influencing Pristina officials to resolve this agony?

Rados Petrovic also addressed the protestors on behalf of businessmen of Kosovo and Metohija.
