A student protest was held yesterday in North Mitrovica, during which the students placed band-aids over their mouths which signified their „fight for survival and justice with silence“. The students also held empty plates alluding to the possible shortage of food in the student cafeteria if the 100% tax remains in force.

Protests were also held over the past number of days.  The mayors of the four Serb majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo resigned two days ago. The Mayor of North Mitrovica municipality said that he resigned due to the introduction of „anti-civilian custom taxes“, which threatened Kosovo Serbs’ right to live, fair treatment and information, but also because of the „unwarranted arrest of northern Mitrovica citizens and the attempted murder“ of Srpska Lista Vice-President, Milan Radiocic.
