Around hundred pensioners protested against the introduction of 100% customs duties on Serbian products, as well as the recent arrest of Serbs suspected of being involved in the murder of Oliver Ivanovic, in North Mitrovica today. The pensioners also sent an appeal against the formation of the Kosovo Army.
„Unfortunately, some in Pristina, supported by foreigners, have decided to turn their personal frustration, dissatisfaction, and it is not wrong to say – hatred towards the Serbs in the North of Kosovo, into a political plan aimed at the expulsion of everything that is Serbian from this region,“ the president of Association of Pensioners in North Mitrovica, Velimir Krstic stressed.
He said that the introduction of 100% taxes signifies 0% freedom for Serbs in Kosovo – the same message Srpska Lista MPs sent from the Kosovo Parliament, while waiting for the EU Commissioner, Johannes Hahn.
Krstic also appealed to those “who decide in the world”, emphasizing that „Serbs have no bread, no drugs, and no right to life in the 21st century.“
This pensioner also claimed that the current political situation was “caused by the politicians who have been stirring trouble in Serbia since October 5th”.
The President of the Association of Pensioners „Trepca“ from Zvecan, Miroslav Todosijevic, also called for a peaceful and democratic fight against the „injustice caused by the so-called Kosovo state“, including the transformation of the KSF into the Kosovo Army.
„They want to cause a humanitarian crisis with these taxes on the import of products from Serbia and to destabilize peace in Kosovo by forming an army,“ he said.
Representatives of pensioners’ associations from other three Serb majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo also addressed the public, appealing to the international community and Europe to exert influence on Pristina to withdraw these “measures”.
