The Srpska Lista, in a statement issued by TV Most on Tuesday evening announced that it will organize a rally on Wednesday to mark the „2000 days“ since the Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities was supposed to be formed according to the Agreement. The rally is to be organised close to Ibar Bridge.

„On the occasion of the 2000th days since Pristina assumed the obligation to form the Community of Serb Municipalities, and the European Union guaranteed it with its signature, the Srpska Lista will tomorrow organize a meeting starting at 12.44h at Brace Milic square in Kosovska Mitrovica. With this rally, we want to show that we are not forgetful, nor ready to give up our rights arising from the Brussels Agreement. We invite you to send clear messages in a peaceful and dignified way to stay and survive in this region, and that we will not allow oblivion to cover the agreement on the Community of Serb Municipalities, and its omission“ – reads the full statement.

Just a few days ago, Kosovo news media outlet „Veriu.info“ published the news that a peace protest march will be allegedly organised in the middle of this week against the closure of the main bridge in Mitrovica, citing unnamed sources. The march that will be organised by CSOs and civic activists from south of the Ibar River, is planned to continue over the bridge towards the main street until its final stop – the hospital in North Mitrovica.

However, a denial arrived on Tuesday from a well-known civic activist Mrs. Aferdite Syla-Shehu, the director of South Mitrovica based CBM.

She denied that her organisation is to be part of the alleged agreed protest, going further to claim that she verified with all leading NGOs from the South Mitrovica region and they also denied that they will be part of the alleged protest march.

„I would kindly ask the portal, which in this case is Veriu.info, to announce the names, as no one organizes this kind of thing without declaring their full names and no one organizes this kind of thing without asking for police permission, which so far, at least according to the information I have, no one has done,“ Syla-Shehu concluded.

Kosovo Police South commander Mr. Avni Zahiti also confirmed to KoSSev, that they had not been contacted in relation to organising a protest rally as of 16:00h Tuesday.

That a new crisis may soon follow was announced last Friday also by the President of Serbia in yet another address to public:

„I’m afraid of their ideas for Kosovska Mitrovica, because we already have indications, obtained through our intelligence, that some would try to cross the bridge in Mitrovica. We are pointing this out to the international community and we will ask that this does not happen,“ Vucic told media in Belgrade.

The President also explained what information is available to Serb representatives, although he did not specify whom he was talking about. Vucic, however, urged these Serbs to come out and speak for themselves.

„However, whether this will cross their minds (Albanians) and whether they said this to some Serb representatives – let these Serb representatives speak for themselves. One of them says – I wouldn’t do that, but Veseli told me. The other says – I would do it in a different way, it does not interest us. We will talk about this with part of the international community that has an obligation to prevent them from doing such things,” Vucic told media last Friday.

Sooner than tensions around the unannounced visit of Hashim Thaci to Gazivode subsided, there may eventually be hints that a new event could be on the horizon.
