„Calling for combat readiness is the exclusive competence of the President of the Republic of Serbia,“ Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s stated this morning. Vucic issued an order last week raising the Serbian military and police forces’ state of combat readiness to the highest level, following Kosovo President Hashim Thaci’s visit to Gazivode Lake.
The Serbian President reiterated twice in 24 hours that NATO knew about the arrival of Hashim Thaci to the North, while the local self-government and police in the north, on the other hand, were not informed.
Do not forget that there are two cumulative conditions for the arrival of Kosovo Security Forces to the North, he reminded of the Brussels deal on the deployment of the Kosovo Security Force to the north of Kosovo.
“NATO pretended not to know anything. They did not tell the truth, but it does not matter. They later approved everything and said that it is wonderful that the President of the state of Kosovo is coming to visit his citizens,“ Vucic underlined after his repeating claims, including one from last night on NATO being aware of the Thaci’s arrival.

„I want to remind you once more, if it was unclear to someone in Serbia, although I think it was clear enough to everyone in the world and although different people from the world tried to justify something that can not be justified – an incursion into the North with people bearing long pipes, sniper rifles, machine guns, automatic rifles and everything else. Why shouldn’t they? Precisely because we have approved the Brussels Agreement which made clear who is overseeing the regional police in the north. Not one Serb, not even a commander – the North Commander wasn’t even warned, nor was he aware of what was happening. People do not know what’s going on. How is it possible? How can we know what you are doing with these rifles and with these sniper rifles and with these machine guns? Should we guess or wait two hours for you to tell us – ‘We came to take photos in a squalid boat, which we drove 200 km, since they do not even have a boat.’ They could have taken two of ours that I presented now. We could have let them borrow these boats in order to see what real boats are. Our Mountain Service has three times better boats than their quasi-state. But let’s leave that aside.“
„Not one letter, not one word. No one had even asked the Serbs. If you don’t think that this is a breach of the Brussels Agreement, then there’s no problem, say that’s how it is, say – We have rights to everything, and these others do not,“ Vucic added.
Although the President said that there is currently no immediate danger, he did however announce a new crisis in the North.
„I’m afraid of their ideas for Kosovska Mitrovica, because we already have indications, obtained by our intelligence, that some would try to cross the bridge in Mitrovica. We are pointing this out to the international community and we will ask that this does not happen,“ he further claimed.
The president also explained what information is available to Serb representatives, although he did not specify about whom he was talking about. Vucic, however, urged these Serbs to come out and say:
„However, whether this will cross their minds (Albanians) and whether they said this to some Serb representatives – let these Serb representatives speak for themselves. One of them says – I wouldn’t do that, but Veseli told me. The other says – I would do it in a different way, it does not interest us. We will talk about this with part of the international community that has an obligation to prevent them from doing such things.”
The latest Vucic address follows one from yesterday evening after a meeting with the European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia, David McAllister.
„When Serbia said it thinks that something could be a solution, then all the sticks of this world gather to hit me on the head and tell me – it cannot be that way – and to explain to me that we are opening Pandora’s box,“ was one of his messages.
„I informed Mr. McAllister about everything that is happening in Kosovo. I did not have much good news, but I guess even when I thought that I had good news to say, it’s obvious that others thought that those were bad news. I’m no longer sure what the good news is and what the bad news is.“
