Adviser to the Kosovo Minister for Communities and Return, Rada Trajkovic was detained at the Merdare border crossing for almost 24 hours. Her daughter announced on Twitter tonight that Trajkovic was rushed to the hospital in Prokuplje.
„Mom was transferred by ambulance to Prokuplje because her health condition suddenly deteriorated. The examination shows early signs of pneumonia,“ she wrote on Trajkovic’s Twitter profile.

Rada Trajkovic traveled to Pristina yesterday to meet with representatives of the Greek Office in Pristina and the US Embassy. As Trajkovic herself testified, she was detained for several hours by the Serbian police at the Merdare crossing, before they finally allowed her to pass.
However, on her way back to Belgrade, she was once again detained at the same crossing where she was kept for almost 24 hours. Trajkovic, who is a diabetic, did not have her insulin therapy.
Trajkovic revealed that a young man from the Serbian Security Intelligence Agency informed her that her case had been taken over by the BIA. She said that the documents belonging to her, her son, and the driver were taken and that she was trying to get in contact with a lawyer.
„That young man from the BIA did not want to introduce himself or show his ID. He didn’t ask me anything. He just said that they are taking over and that when he receives recommendations from Belgrade, he will return the documents. My son and the man who drove me are here, we traveled to Kosovo together. They took everyone’s documents,“ Trajkovic told Nova.rs.
She stated that the Serbian minister in the Kosovo government, Nenad Rasic, wanted to buy her insulin and have it delivered to her by the Kosovo police.
„However, they told me that the one I use is not available in Pristina. It is a specific type. My cousin came from Nis to bring it to me,“ says Trajkovic.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti also reacted to the detention of Rada Trajkovic at this crossing, describing it as a „gross violation of human rights“.
„Serbian autocratic regime’s 10-hour border detention of Trajkovic Rada, advisor to Kosovo Minister Nenad Rasic and a diabetic, for the second time this week, is a gross violation of human rights and typical retaliation against law-abiding Kosovo Serbs,“ Kurti tweeted this morning.
