Members of the Kosovo Police prevented the workers of Elektrosever from maintaining the electricity network in the municipality of Zubin Potok by barring them from using the local road, the director of Elektrosever and member of the Crisis Team in the north, Boban Novakovic, announced today.
According to Novakovic, the police officers prevented Elektrosever workers from connecting electricity to the Rezala settlement yesterday, and today they made it impossible to repair the fault in the electrical system between Rovacki Potez and the village of Jabuka.
„Currently, there are about 150 residents, including children, the elderly, and the sick, without power, namely in the villages of Jabuka, Prevlak, Crepulja, Dren, Zagulj, as well as the MTS cell tower in Kurilovo, which prevented citizens from using telecommunication services,“ he said.
The Kosovo police told the Elektrosever team that the KEDS workers would repair the malfunction today, Novakovic claims.
„This goes against all agreements because the maintenance of the network in that part has always been done by our workers,“ he noted, adding that they turned to KFOR for help, but that they are still waiting for their response.
Novakovic also mentioned another case that reportedly happened five days ago at the Gazivode Dam.
„An electrician from the Zubin Potok branch, M.T. was physically and mentally abused by the Kosovo Police at the Gazivode dam on December 11, 2022, when he and his colleague M.V. went to the TS ‘Andrice’ to repair the malfunction,“ claims Boban Novakovic.
The Kosovo Police denied these allegations in a response to the KoSSev portal.
„The latest speculations say that the Kosovo Police arrested a former police officer – Z.M. in North Mitrovica and that the KP in the North prevented the workers of the electricity distribution company from repairing a malfunction of the electricity network. Once again, we deny these speculations, clarifying that there is no official information from the Kosovo Police about the arrest of the person in question, as well as that the Kosovo Police did not interfere and does not interfere under any circumstances with any institution or employee who is officially performing their duties,“ the KP stated in their response to KoSSev’s inquires.
The police say that actions have been taken to solve and eliminate the problem in the electrical network in cooperation with the competent authorities.
