„The warmongering rhetoric of certain media since the beginning of June, but also the concrete intentions to ‘spontaneously’ provoke the territorial partition, have rightfully deeply concerned our Bishop and forced him to react. We are glad that, by actualizing this topic, at least some of us have contributed to the fact that this scenario did not occur or that it has been delayed, at least, because no territorial partition, which is spoken about more and more openly, as we know it, never takes place in a peace environment and inevitably leads to the suffering of the innocent „- the Abbot of Visoki Decani monastery Sava Janjic said to the public, responding to messages against church representatives conveyed by the highest Serbian officials. These messages were reiterated this morning by the head of the Kosovo Office, Marko Djuric.
Janjic expressed his sincere regret that Marko Djuric found himself hurt by the fact that the Eparchy expressed concern over the partition in which „most Serbs would remain outside the borders of Serbia where they would be exposed to new persecutions“.
He said that he would not respond to „ungrounded and inappropriate attacks“ that „remind him of a similar rhetoric of some earlier dark times“. However, he announced that he will personally apologize if Serbian political representatives publicly reject any possible scenario of partition and if they confirm that they respect the Serbian Constitution.
Janjic pointed out that, for the church, the issue of partition will never be a matter of politics but that it is an issue of the survival of the Serbian people and the Church in peace and dignity. Janjic, therefore, believes that the church has a legitimate right to express concern over „discouraging statements by some of the most responsible people“.
