The statement of the Serbian Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin that “delimitation with the Albanians should take place as soon as possible” caused an intense reaction among Serbian opposition on Sunday. The Alliance for Serbia (Savez za Srbiju) assessed this announcement as “extremely dangerous and unacceptable,” while the head of the Dveri movement, Bosko Obradovic announced that he would be filing criminal charges against the Minister of Defense, because his statement “showed that he does not recognize the borders of his country and that he is violating the Criminal Code.”
The Serbian Military Union was the first one to react to Vulin’s statement by filing criminal charges against him for „endangering the territorial integrity and betraying the country,“ and requesting his dismissal and arrest.
“The regime does not care about the dangerous Pandora box it intends to open in the Balkans”
The Alliance for Serbia stressed that this statement is “fully in line with the now clear agreement between the President of Serbia and Kosovo, Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci,” adding that the regime is showing that it does not care about people, the Constitution, or UN Resolution 1244, Belgrade-based Beta news agency reported.
According to this opposition party, the position on delimitation of this regime showed that it does not care about the “dangerous Pandora box it intends to open in the Balkans in order to preserve its power and pockets filled with people’s money.”
“It is scandalous that Defense Minister Vulin does not know where the borders of Serbia are,”the Alliance wrote in a statement, emphasizing that “the members of Vulin’s and Vucic’s progressive party do not understand the need for real reconciliation and negotiation, while preserving our state attitude, as long as they are playing with maps and human lives.”
Obradovic announced criminal charges
The head of the Dveri movement, Bosko Obradovic announced that he would be filing criminal charges against Vulin over his statement that he is in favor of a delimitation with Kosovo Albanians because by doing so “he has shown that he does not recognize the borders of his country and that he is violating the Criminal Code,” Beta reported.
Obradovic said that it is scandalous that “instead of worrying about Serbia’s security as the Minister of Defense in charge of Serbia’s defense, he is making statements that are leading to instability and high treason.”
“Aleksandar Vucic, Aleksandar Vulin and anyone else who believes that he can violate the Constitution, acknowledge the occupation of a part of our territory or renounce territorial sovereignty and integrity – must be aware that they will receive a long prison sentence on the basis of the Articles 306 and 307 of the Criminal Code,” Obradovic warned.
The Vice-President of the People’s Party, Zdravko Ponos also condemned Vulin’s statement, claiming that he showed that “he does not know the borders of Serbia”.
