Serbian Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin said that he is in favour of delimitation with the Albanians taking place “as soon as possible.” On the other hand, the Serbian Military Union filed criminal charges against Vulin for „endangering the territorial integrity and betraying the country,“ and requested his dismissal and arrest, Belgrade-based Beta news agency reported.
KoSSev: Serbia’s top officials on delimitation
Vulin is not the only Serbian official who is in favor of delimitation.
Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic recently stated that delimitation is Serbia’s official proposal for resolving the Kosovo issue.Only a day later, however,he announced that he actually wanted to say that this was in fact „one of the official ideas“.
Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic also spoke in the past about this „official idea“. Vucic explained that delimitation is „an idea that could lead to a solution,“ adding that „it is not happening – – the Germans do not want it, the Albanians do not want it.“
“When we determine where the line is, we will be able to defend it,” Vulin told Belgrade daily newspaper Vecernje Novosti on Sunday.
“The crime that has been committed against our country and our people is indisputable, but now it is up to us to have the courage and strength to finally unite and try to solve the Serbian national issue,” he said.
“It is coming and it came, the ‘Greater Albania’ is here. Now it is a question whether we will stop it or wait for it to reach central Serbia,” the Serbian Defense Minister warned.
He also said he would like extraordinary parliamentary elections to take place in June, as he “believes that elections are good, healing, and will chase away the fascists from the streets.”
This is not the first time that Vulin mentioned the idea of ethnic delimitation with Albanians.
„Greater Albania is the biggest threat to peace in the Balkans. The idea that all Albanians live in one state or have one president is evidence of Greater Albania. For this reason, I have proposed and I am proposing that the delimitation between us and Greater Albania must be established in Kosovo and Metohija. The expansion of Greater Albania must be stopped in Kosovo,“ he said in February of last year.
Serbian Military Union: „Vulin committed the criminal offense of endangering the territorial integrity“
The Serbian Military Union reacted soon after Vulin’s statement by filing criminal charges against him for „endangering the territorial integrity and betraying the country,“ and requesting his dismissal and arrest, Beta reported.
„Vulin also committed the criminal offense of endangering the territorial unity and Article 367 clearly reads‘those who, by force or by another unconstitutional means, attempt to secede part of the territory or to join that territory to another shall be punished by an imprisonment of three to fifteen years,“ the Military Union emphasized.
This union claimed that Vulin is „spreading fear“ and „redrawing the century-long boundaries of the Serbian state“ with such statements.
The Military Union estimated that Vulin’s responsibility is even greater because „he is the official defense minister and his interview in which the existence of Greater Albania on the century-long Serbian soil is recognized as de facto is more than a red flag.“
They also underlined that the Serbian Parliament should reconsider the responsibility of a member of the Government and that the Serbian public prosecutor should react.
The union further wrote that the Military Security Agency should arrest Vulin, while the government and the president „have to renounce such an associate.“
