A Kosovo attorney attacked by a key witness at Mitrovica Court

Attorney Mahmut Halimi was attacked today in the Prosecutor’s Office of the Basic Kosovo Court in North Mitrovica, the President of the Court Nikola Kabasic confirmed for KoSSev. Halimi was attacked by an ethnic K-Albanian S.L., who was being interrogated as a key witness.

Kosovo media reported that Halimi was hospitalized early in the afternoon and that he was seriously injured.

The suspected assailant, who is in custody at the order of the prosecution, was the key witness in the case against the accused Driton Latifi.

„I was attacked today by a witness at the Basic Court in Mitrovica in connection with the case of Driton Latifi, (by) the key witness Sabit Lushtaku from Prekaze. During testimony, the same man, without provocation, punched me four or five times in the face, which caused injuries,“ Halimi said in a statement for „Indeksonline“ portal.

The same portal reported that the statement was short due to the pain suffered by the attorney.

The Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office in North Mitrovica is located in the multiethnic part of Bosniak Mahala.
