An armed robbery was carried out today at a bank in the Veternik settlement of Pristina, the Pristina-based Gazeta Express reported. A bank employee was wounded. Police are searching for three suspects.

Three masked persons robbed the bank at around 9 o’clock this morning. The robbers also wounded a bank employee who was hospitalized at the clinical center in Pristina. They also fired warning shot(s) in the air, Gazeta Express reported.

A certain amount of money was taken, although the exact amount is not known.

The condition of the wounded employee is also unknown, as well as the name of the bank in question.

However, this is not the first bank robbery in Veternik. The NLB branch office in Veternik was robbed in mid-September when €6,000 was stolen, while a second robbery occurred in the same week – when the customs terminal at the Merdare crossing was robbed.

The Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs, Bejtush Gashi resigned immediately and the suspected robbers were quickly arrested.

Today’s robbery is just one in a line of robberies of banks, post offices and vehicles which transport money. Robberies often occur in Pristina, but also in the North, and throughout Kosovo.
