„Out with the government“, „thieves should be in prison“, „go away, Lumezi“, „go away, Ramush“, „Ramush the Ravager“, „The not so great Alexander Lumezi“, „from hero to zero“, „veteran dealer“, „no state without an independent judiciary“, „A million refugees stole chickens?“ – read messages from yesterday’s protest in Pristina. The protest was organized after special prosecutor Elez Blakaj resigned due to pressures and threats during an investigation into the case of over 19,000 fake veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army and his allegations that the main Kosovo prosecutor Alexander Lumezi and certain judicial officials interfered in this case.
„This protest is this society’s cry for the protection of its citizens. This is a protest against atrocities that happened to us. This is a protest against those who have been violating the right to economic development for 20 years,“ Krenare Loxha from the Organizational Council of Protests said, Pristina-based Kallxo reported.
The protest, „Dismiss the prosecutor – vetting process in the judiciary“, was organized by the „Protestoj“ initiative, which was previously at the head of the protest in Pristina following the “Pronto” affair of top Kosovo officials, including the current Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci.
The indictment was filed in the meantime, but there is no information in public that the court case is underway.
Analyst Imer Mushkolaj recalled that, as an initiative, they had previously demanded criminal charges and political responsibility against everyone involved in the Pronto affair.
„We demanded this from the Chief Prosecutor Lumezi and his subordinates. The indictment was filed, but we do not see the results,“ he said, Kallxo reported.

„This man cares more about the comfort of a minister who is accused, rather than punishing him for his actions… We as citizens hear the famous sentence every day – if you have facts send them to the prosecutor! What prosecutor? This man cannot stand to prosecute politicians. Lumezi must go home. Then he will have more free time for dinner with the accused,“ Mushkolaj added.
Politicians who shout catch the thief are the thieves themselves, Mushkolaj also said, adding that he will not stop the protests.
The Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj called prosecutor Blakaj ‘a hens thief’ and ‘a coxcomb’ . What happened after his resignation and the open letter read in the news:
