The Journalists’ Association of Serbia (UNS) and the Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) urged the Kosovo Police to investigate the circumstances under which a car of the weekly magazine ‘Vreme’ caught fire in the north of Kosovo last night and to reveal the results of the investigation to the public.
As the journalist of „Vreme“ Ivana Milanovic-Hrasovec told the UNS, the car, transporting the director of „Vreme“, Stevan Ristic, director of photography, Marija Jankovic and a colleague from the portal „Le Courrier des Balkans“ Philippe Bertinchamps, caught fire near the Jarinje administrative crossing on the Kosovo side, as well as that „there are no indications whether it was a malfunction or if it was tempered with“.
„We visited North Mitrovica to conduct an interview with the editor of the portal KoSSev.info Tatjana Lazarevic. We did not experience any inconvenience at the Jarinje crossing upon our arrival, as well as during our stay in North Mitrovica,“ Milanovic-Hrasovec told UNS.
Milanovic-Hrasovec said that the Leposavic police took their statements.
According to ‘Vreme’, the car was parked in the hotel parking lot the day before. Firefighters intervened and the police from Leposavic took statements. A preliminary investigation was also conducted.
The ‘Vreme’ magazine is expecting a quick, efficient, and a thorough investigation in this case which would remove any doubts about the causes of the fire.
