Members of the Kosovo Police region north division arrested two persons under the suspicion that they were engaged in a fraud scheme, i.e. that they were taking money from citizens in exchange for finding them employment in the municipality through their connections or helping them get an apartment allocated by the local self-government.
The police stated that the arrest of B.P. and D.V.M. was the result of close cooperation between the municipal leadership and the Kosovo Police.
After their arrest, they were remanded in a 48 hour-long custody due to the suspicion they committed the crime of „scamming” by purposely misleading the citizens.
According to police findings, from April to December 2021, B.P and D.V.M. scammed more than 15 people, thus acquiring more than 35,000 euros.
The police suspect that the number of scam victims is actually higher, urging everyone who may have been scammed to come forward and file a report at the Mitrovica-North police station.
