The attack on the “STR Ivan” store in the center of North Mitrovica two nights ago was carried out by two masked men. They broke the glass door, however, they took nothing from the store.
KoSSev was able to obtain confirmation from the Kosovo Police the day after the incident. Deputy Commander of the north region, Besim Hoti told KoSSev that the „STR Ivan“, located on the main street, in the center of the town, was stoned. Hoti also revealed that a video surveillance camera had recorded two hooded attackers and the very act of stoning.
„The incident took place on the night of March 5-6th, between 2 and 3 am. The surveillance camera we examined shows two young men with hoods throwing stones. They didn’t take anything. We interviewed the owner and we’ll continue with the case based on the recording and interview. The investigation is ongoing. The case was classified as destruction of property,“ Hoti said.
This shop is protected by the local Soko security firm and is under video surveillance. This part of the town is under heavy video surveillance, given the number of shops located there.
The owner, Ivan Miletic told KoSSev yesterday that he found five stones – two inside and three stones outside the store.
„I have never wronged anyone and there is not a single person, not only in Mitrovica, but in the world, who could take advantage of this situation in this way because I have quarreled, wronged or remained in debt to someone,“ Miletic claimed.
However, he did not exclude the possibility that the stoning was connected with his political views.
“It’s not a small thing. It’s not harmless at all. Because if it is politically motivated, God forbid, it started the same with Oliver and some other people who do not agree with this situation in Mitrovica. The safety and security of my family are at stake. Apart from my views on the current political situation that I share on social networks, I have no problems with other people. I don’t know if that’s why this happened, but it is possible,“ he added.

The only reason (for the stoning) could be my posts on social networks, i.e. my political views. Even if you were to cross the red line, and we know what that means, I would be a free man – there as well as here. TODAY is March 6th and the birthday of my late father. Thank you for giving me freedom,” Miletic also addressed the attackers via social media.
The stoning of Miletic’s store greatly disturbed the citizens of North Mitrovica, as Miletic is widely viewed as a hardworking citizen and a kind trader, while his shop is popular among local residents.
