„You did not fulfill any of your promises“ – this is how the Presidency member of the Serbian National Forum and former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Momcilo Trajkovic addressed the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, in a new open letter. The reason for the letter was a meeting of the SNF delegation with the President six months ago, after the murder of Oliver Ivanovic. Trajkovic listed what they talked about in nine points, as well as everything the President, as he assessed, did not fulfill. He also said to the Serbian President: „For a large number of negative things that are happening in Kosovo and Metohija at the expense of the people living here and at the expense of Serbia’s interests, you said that you do not know about them and that you are not adequately informed. These bad things are still happening here, but after our conversation, you can no longer say that you know nothing about it and that you are not informed. Responsibility is now on you and you cannot avoid it.“ We publish the original letter:
Today marks 6 months (180 days) since our meeting in the Presidency on January 30th 2018, and I feel obliged to inform you and the public which promises you made were fulfilled.
Mr. President, not even one! You did not fulfill any of your promises. You keep behaving like we did not meet at all. Both the public and the media are witnesses of this!
You have behaved in the way I did not expect, and unfortunately, in the way I was warned by many well-meaning, and malicious people as well.
By inviting me to talk, you wanted to somehow relieve the pressure placed on you after the tragic murder of Oliver Ivanovic, for which, whether you want to admit or not, the authorities in Belgrade bear, at least partially, objective responsibility.
Then, instead of directing every force towards finding the perpetrators and instigators, you went to Laplje Selo to a meeting with “the people,” during which you, consciously or not, „painfully” humiliated the troubled Kosovo Serbs. At a time of great sorrow, you gave cows, chickens, and tractors to a number of citizens, you promised a lot more and everything was forgotten… Some of the promises you made to citizens, before the entire public and TV cameras, your people have yet to fulfill. I knew back then, as did you, that this is not the way to solve the problems of troubled people… Not in the halls and at the rallies, but in the institutions. Unfortunately, you have entrusted the management of the institutions of the Republic of Serbia in charge of Kosovo to a political and intellectual demimonde, people who are not up to the task.
Do you remember what we talked about 180 days ago, do you remember what you promised? I will list the most important (promises) you made, and you can estimate whether you have kept your word.
You have promised that you will „turn every stone“ to find the perpetrators in the investigation of the murder of Oliver Ivanovic, 200 days have passed and you did not say a word on the matter; you rewarded the creators of the pre-election video with new support and new positions
First, we talked about the circumstances under which Oliver Ivanovic was killed. You promised to „turn every stone“ to find the perpetrators, but also the instigators. Already, over 200 days have passed, even though you promised to inform the public, you did not say a word on the matter.
We also talked about the pre-election video in which Oliver was charged with treason and which drew “a target on his forehead”, and then you buried such a man in the „Alley of Meritorious Citizens“. If you are not able to find Oliver’s killer, I’m sure that you could announce, in a day, who are the creators and the instigators of this filthy video that gave the right that such a man, as he was presented to the public, could be killed by anyone. You have not done anything on this matter to date. On the contrary, you have rewarded the creators of this video with new support and new positions, and your people justify this shameful act with the „fervor of political struggle“!
You told us – „I have never seen him in my life, that Radoicic, whom somebody is mentioning now, and I do not know who he is,“ and now with your blessing, he was appointed the Vice-President of Srpska Lista
Second, we talked about the fear that has crept into people after Oliver’s murder. You mentioned it yourself, I quote: „I have never seen him in my life, that Radoicic, whom somebody is mentioning now, and I do not know who he is,” citing the names of some other people with whom you were allegedly associated with, and whom you may have met once. Not even three months have passed since our conversation, with your blessing, this man, who was your chief negotiator even back then, was appointed the Vice-President of the so-called Srpska Lista.
You told us about the Kosovo Fund: „We have to do this right now“; to date, there is neither hide nor hair of it
Third, in criticizing the way in which you tried to solve the difficult social and economic situation in Laplje Selo, we proposed that the Government of Serbia pass a Law on the Fund for Kosovo and Metohija, which would institutionally and thoughtfully support the survival of the people, but also the return of the troubled Serbs who are roaming Central Serbia. We gave you the final copy of the draft law. You were thrilled with the proposal and assessed the proposal as excellent “on the spot“ and promised that it will go into consideration immediately. You said, „We have to do this right away in order to have the time to fit it in the budget for next year.“ To date, there is neither hide nor hair of it!?
The State Council for Kosovo was not established; 50% of the territory was sold in Novo Brdo, your authorities did nothing to stop this process
Fourth, we have suggested that the Government of Serbia establishes a State Council for Kosovo and Metohija, in order to realign your party politics with the national politics. You also assessed this proposal as constructive and interesting. We even gave you the final draft of this. Unfortunately, you have not kept your word on this matter either.
Fifth, we warned you about the dangerous process of the sale and purchase of property taking placing in Serbian municipalities which are run, for 5 years now, by your staff from Srpska Lista, to be more precise, from the Serbian Progressive Party. On that occasion, we cited the Municipality of Novo Brdo as an example, where 50% of the territory has been sold in the last 5 years since your people took power (the SNS has 3,000 members). Although we warned you six months ago and the SNF had a proposal for a solution, to date, your government has not done anything to stop this process. Unfortunately, it still continues.
You said that all people involved in corrupt actions will be held accountable. So, you looked us in the eyes and lied!?
We warned you that in the Municipality of Strpce, where the SNS also has more than 3,000 members (statement of Marko Djuric) and where your people are in power, in recent years, Albanians have built the largest illegally built town in the „Shar Mountains“ National Park. We also warned you that the municipalities of Klokot and Gracanica are being Albanized under the authority of your people, although these municipalities, even under the Kosovo Constitution, were given to Serbs to protect the territory and prevent its Albanization.
You said that all people involved in corrupt actions will be held accountable and I quote: „And where are Vladeta Kostic and Branimir Stojanovic (former Presidents of the municipality of Gracanica) now? They are nowhere because they did that, and they will remain nowhere.“
You said that on January 30th, and the next day Stojanovic was appointed as the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy by the Serbian Government. Vladeta Kostic escaped from Gracanica, and his livelihood was provided to him somewhere outside of Kosovo. So, you looked us in the eyes and lied!?
You promised that you and Djuric will be present at the roundtables – you did not attend, neither did Djuric
Six, on our remark that Marko Djuric, the Head of the Kosovo Office has been avoiding talking to us for years, you vigorously promised, I quote: „Not only will he talk, but he’ll talk to you for three hours… Schedule the roundtable down there (Kosovo) and he will surely come…“ The roundtable was scheduled for March 7th in Laplje Selo, although we accommodated him with the date in a telephone conversation, he did not appear at the gathering. The explanation was that the Head of the Kosovo Office had better things to do. So, you did not keep your word on this either!?
Seven, on our remark that the dialogue on Kosovo cannot be conducted without Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, you yourself said, I quote: „We will organize a roundtable in mid-March. I have not attended any, I will personally come to this one and if necessary, I will preside.“ For two months I persistently insisted that the roundtable be scheduled and I set the date (May 12th), with the cabinet for organizing the dialogue, on their proposal, in order for the date to be in line with your obligations. Marko Djuric, the Head of the Kosovo Office, was also invited. On that day, 32 of us arrived in Belgrade from Kosovo and Metohija, including 12 PhDs. However, you did not attend the gathering, the Head of the Kosovo Office did not either. There was no explanation. You did not keep your word again!?
You want to resolve it hastily
Eight, then we proposed to you, regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, to give up on the policy of the final status and move on to the track of solving the process. You said that this is an interesting idea that no one has brought up to date and that your current activities are going in that direction. I see from your statements that now, quite opposite to what you said, you persistently, at all costs, and „sailing through,“ want to resolve it hastily, arguing that we have nothing here. In the stubborn pursuit of your idea that you need to solve the „Kosovo issue“, you go so far as to completely minimize the great potentials of Serbia and Kosovo Serbs in Kosovo, mocking the fight and the sacrifices they have invested for the last twenty years, creating the opportunity for a „normal“ Serbia to solve its burning problem in the process.
Kosovo is not lost
Nine, you say that „all the Serbs know that Kosovo is lost,“ and we who live here continue to argue that it is not, neither for us nor for Serbia. In Kosovo, there are about 120,000 of us, with thousands and thousands of hectares of land and tens of thousands of displaced persons whose property was usurped, and which together and with the serious support of the state could stabilize their national entity and strengthen their position and the position of the state of Serbia. There is also a huge amount of state property that unfortunately has not been discussed so far. There is a historical and cultural heritage, there is the historical right of the Serbian people…
Instead of the state using these potentials, you completely demoralized, with your politicians and defeatist statements, the already frightened and concerned Serbian people, opening up the unprecedented processes of the last exodus of Kosovo Serbs, unconscious that you are making Kosovo out of Sumadija.
Mr. President, stay away from the devil’s work!!!
For the large number of negative things that are happening in Kosovo and Metohija at the expense of the people living here and at the expense of Serbia’s interests, you said that you do not know about them and that you are not adequately informed. These bad things are still happening here, but after our conversation, you can no longer say that you know nothing about it and that you are not informed. Responsibility is now on you and you cannot avoid it.
Despite the great disagreement with your current policy on Kosovo, the SNF is still extending its hand and offering that we, together, with all national and democratic forces in Serbia and the church, reverse the policy and look for new opportunities for solving this burning problem. With this, we once again confirm that our intentions are utterly sincere!
Otherwise, I suggest you leave that position!!!
P.S. Mr. President, your last statement that „there are less than 20 houses in Caglavica, (where I was born and where I still live today),“ is a blatant example of the lack of information, or evil intentions, to confirm your thesis that it is not worth fighting for Kosovo. During your next stay in Kosovo, I invite you to be my guest in Caglavica and see for yourself the senselessness of your extremely damaging statements.
I sincerely hope that because of this address “a target” will not be drawn on my forehead!
