Kosovo’s President and Prime Minister seemed to be in sharp disagreement over the idea of a “land swap“, i.e. „partition“. While Thaci strongly advocates what he labels as the „correction of borders“, extending to the take over of Vranjska Kotlina/Presevo Valley , Haradinaj to an equal extent opposes it warning of a new war.
PM Ramush Haradinaj said on Monday that the „border correction“ idea is „dead“ „extending his condolences” to all its supporters, Kosovo media reported earlier.
It was soon followed by Thaci’s answer through a press conference in Pristina.
“I think the Prime Minister needs to correct his statements and stance over the dialogue process, Gazeta Express reported.
“The dialogue with Serbia is not dead,” said Thaci.
He warned Haradinaj about „replacement“: “After all, our positions are not permanent, prime ministers and presidents can be replaced, they come and go, however only those who are not ready to make corrections can be replaced,” Thaci said.
Thaci criticized Haradinaj for his friendship with Srpska Lista vice President Milan Radoicic. Kosovo media describe him as a „controversial figure, considered to be a man with influence in the northern part of Kosovo“.
To fight back against Ramush Haradinaj, Thaci used the southern part of Serbia – the municipalities of Medvedja, Bujanovac and Presevo:
„The Prime Minister is sacrificing the Presevo Valley only for one person“. Gazeta Express reported it as „a clear reference to Milan Radoicic“.
“I will never sacrifice the Valley for the sake of an individual in the north,” Thaci went further.
As a final fightback, Thaci accused Haradinaj of exaggerating the lists of the war (KLA) veterans referring to Haradinaj’s recent statement on the figure of 50-60,000 KLA members.
The number is not higher than 12,000 men under arms, said Hashim Thaci.
