Almost a month after the Kosovo Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj resigned, the Kosovo Assembly voted to dissolve the sixth convocation of the assembly. The motion was adopted with 89 votes in favor, two opposed and one abstention. The Kosovo public now expects Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci to comply with his constitutional obligations and call the seventh parliamentary elections in Kosovo earlier than expected.

Srpska Lista MPs did not attend today’s session.

Hoti: PAN governmentis a culmination of nepotism

Duringa brief debate that preceded the vote on the second item on the agenda – the proposal to dissolve the Kosovo Assembly, the head of the LDK parliamentary group ,Avdullah Hoti said that the PAN government would go down in history as the largest government, but also one whose officials are facing indictments. Hoti also argued that this government, as well as the president, tried to lead an unconstitutional dialogue with Serbia, adding that political consensus on the dialogue was never reached.

He recalled that foreign policy was also a problem, pointing out that Kosovo citizens still do not have visa liberalization and that the Kosovo police are not a member of the international organization INTERPOL.

Weeks of political turmoil in Pristina preceded the session, which was scheduled in early August, and one pre-election coalition has already been formalized so far in preparation for early elections – a coalition between Ramush Haradinaj’s AAK and Shpend Ahmeti’s PSD party.

According to media speculation, out of the three dates when it is legally possible to schedule elections (September 22nd, September 29th or October 6th), the Kosovo president has already selected the last one. The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic also estimated that early parliamentary elections in Kosovo would be scheduled for October 6th.

The Law on Ratification of the IPA Financial Agreement with the European Union was also adopted during today’s session with 101 votes in favor.
