Lawyer Dastid Pallaska said in an interview for Pristina-based newspaper Zeri that the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, seemed to have only agreed on the outcome of the dialogue, i.e. the exchange of territories. According to Pallaska, the partition of Kosovo was discussed for the first time at a dinner with Edi Rama and Serbian leaders in Belgrade in 2016, Zeri reported.

Zeri: Do you expect that the issue of Presevo Valley will be solved within this process?

Pallaska: If it is broken down, the issue of the Presevo Valley, as well as the issue of every part where Albanian people have remained outside national borders of the country is an issue of human rights and freedoms in the individual aspect, as well as in the collective (aspect).

A century ago there was a wrong assumption that these rights and freedoms for members of a nation are realized only within the national state. As Enver Hoxha confirmed, among other things, national homogeneity is not ensured in such a state, neither are the rights or benefits of citizens.

Ideas on nationally pure countries can only be found in societies that foster the illusion that ethnic homogeneity can replace hard work in order to build and maintain a state that is in the service of citizens.

This explains why these ideas are promoted only by mediocre politicians who simply do not have the skills to manage a society or a state.

These ideas were recently recycled in the Albanian political space by the Prime Minister of Albania, who, in an effort to conceal his mismanagement, „took over“ finding the solution of the Albanian-Serbian problem.

Given that there was no preparation for this takeover or any regard for the citizens of Kosovo, he fell into Serbia’s trap, which, for years, had aimed at discussing the partition of Kosovo.

National interests through the exchange – it is a result of the attempts of mediocre politicians to solve major problems.

The topic we are discussing today is the best example of this. Since 2016, the public in Kosovo has welcomed the public demands of the Albanian Prime Minister to the Serbian Prime Minister – for Serbia to recognize Kosovo, but few people knew that the partition of Kosovo was discussed for the first time at a private dinner between the Albanian Prime Minister and the Serbian leadership – the same day the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs presented the proposal for partition. Two years later, this idea reached practically every important decision-making centre.

The Albanian Prime Minister, with political exhibitionism, who sacrifices national interests for little political attention, must understand that the only way for all Albanians to live within their own historical boundaries is within a European Union without borders.
