Kurti: Vucic only wants to talk about the ASM; Vucic: No speech therapist can change that

„Whenever I meet with the President of Serbia in Brussels, he simply mentions the Association (cf. ASM) and nothing more,“ Albin Kurti revealed to Kosovan MPs during an assembly session earlier this week, commenting on what Belgrade has been insisting on throughout the dialogue process. Agreeing with the Kosovo PM’s assessment today, Vucic said he has a speech impediment – „adherence to international law“.

„I have a speech impediment, Kurti is right. I have a speech impediment and stick to international law, the UN Charter, and signed agreements. There is no speech therapist or anyone who could influence my thought process, who could change something similar in the future,“ Vucic said from Qatar, where he is participating in a conference organized by the United Nations.

When asked today about the media’s allegations that Alternative for Germany MPs in the Bundestag are calling on Berlin to withdraw its recognition of Kosovo, Vucic replied that this is unlikely to happen.

„Politics is led by Olaf Scholz’s government together with the Greens and Liberals, and the CDU, currently the strongest party together with the CSU, is against it, so it’s simply not realistic,“ said Vucic.

He added that it is important to him that there are rational stances in Europe, noting that Serbia will still face pressure.

While praising rational attitudes in Europe, Vucic also criticized the Serb opposition, that is, those who “hoped” that they would sign something in Brussels on Monday so that “they can say that Serbia had lost.”

„They were never worried about Serbia, only about their posts and whether they can get their hands on them and full coffers – for which they did not contribute,“ he said.

According to the president, the same people who criticize him now say that the situation is more advantageous for Serbia because 27 countries have withdrawn their recognition of Kosovo.

„They brag about all the things I did, which they never did because in their time no one had withdrawn recognition. Now you are listening to these people who are patronizing and lecturing you, referring to arguments we created and implemented. You have to stop and ask yourself, ‘who is the mad one here,'“ says Vucic.

He also sent a message to the former government, i.e. the current opposition, who accused him of betraying Serbia: “Let us be the traitors – we who organized so many withdrawals of recognition.“
