Three people, including Kosovo Albanian E.A. (1984), who has an outstanding warrant, were detained over a physical attack that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Knjaz Milos Street in North Mitrovica, the Kosovo Police for the region north announced.
At approximately 01.10 am, the police station Mitrovica – North received a report that hitherto unknown persons attacked a Kosovo Serb, M.D. (2001), injuring his arm and the area around the eye.
M.D. was transferred to the North Mitrovica Hospital Center, where he was examined. It was determined that he sustained „minor bodily injuries“. He was kept in the surgery department for further observation.
As part of the investigation, police officers from the Mitrovica-North Investigation Unit arrested three persons.
The police say that they are taking all necessary measures and actions to further identify the perpetrators.
Further investigation is underway, they say.
Earlier today, the Kosovo Police announced only a few details about this case. In their daily report, they reported that an attack took place and that it was classified as a case of „severe bodily injuries“.
The Kosovo Office also reacted to the attack on a young man in Bosniak Mahala, stating that D. M. was attacked by three ethnic Albanians without provocation. The Office expressed „particular concern“ over the fact that one of the attackers is a KSF employee.
„This attack, as well as a series of similar incidents to which Kosovo Serbs have been exposed since the beginning of the year, are a reflection of irresponsible messages and actions of politicians from Pristina who encourage intolerance toward our people and draw a target on Serbs,“ the Kosovo Office said.
They strongly condemned the attack and called on international organizations to enable a peaceful life for Serbs in Kosovo.
