Construction work is currently underway near the site of a former factory in the village of Čečevo, within the Zubin Potok municipality. The public was informed of the development by Milija Biševac, a representative of the Serbian National Movement (SNP), who claimed that the construction was for a new police base. However, Kosovo Police have presented a different narrative, stating that the building under construction is intended for the Emergency Management Agency.
According to Biševac, local residents reported that construction equipment, including excavators and trucks, had been clearing the area around the old factory. While no official statements confirmed this, he indicated that the purpose of the works appeared to be the establishment of a new Kosovo Police base.
“According to unofficial information we have, it’s for the purposes of the construction of yet another new Kosovo Police base,” Biševac stated.
He further expressed the concerns of local villagers, questioning the necessity of another police base in Zubin Potok and its intended function.
Biševac emphasized the historical significance of the land, explaining that in the 1980s, villagers donated it to the municipality for the construction of a factory to retain younger generations in the area.
He accused the Pristina government of attempting to destroy local economic infrastructure, thus making life harder for residents and encouraging their departure.
He also directed criticism at Srpska Lista representatives in the Kosovo Parliament, asking, „Why are you silent on matters like this, and how long will your silence last?“

Kosovo Police: Project for the Emergency Management Agency
In a statement to KoSSev, Veton Elshani, Deputy Commander of the Kosovo Police for the Northern Region, confirmed that construction work is indeed taking place at the Čečevo location.
However, he clarified that the facility under construction, or renovation, is not intended for police use.
„This is public property, meaning state-owned, and work has already begun on a facility for the Emergency Management Agency, which operates under the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs,“ Elshani explained.
While Elshani was unsure whether the project involved the construction of a new building or the renovation of the old factory, he noted that the work had started over a week ago.
This coincides with a period when Kosovo’s Prime Minister, during a recent visit to northern Kosovo, inaugurated the construction of a new substation for the Kosovo Police in Lešak.
