Miloš Perović, the Srpska Lista candidate for mayor of Zubin Potok, strongly rejected reports in several Albanian-language outlets alleging he was “suspected of being part of Milan Radoičić’s terrorist group” during the September 2023 attack on Kosovo police in Banjska.

Perović said he first learned of the reports on Friday afternoon and described them as “staged articles” designed to discredit him in the run-up to the local elections.

“Today I found out that some Albanian media published false news linking me to the events in Banjska two years ago. I want to state clearly: these media articles are orchestrated by those who want to disqualify me from this electoral process and represent an example of fake news,” Perović said.

He added that the publications amount to “psychological and propaganda warfare” against both Srpska Lista and himself personally.

“This is an example of psychological and propaganda war being waged against the Serbian people, Srpska Lista and now myself. It also proves the correctness of the policy pursued by Srpska Lista,” he said, arguing that such attacks reinforce his party’s platform.

“As long as we are attacked by those who want the Serbian people gone from these areas, it shows our policy is the only one protecting Serbian interests,” he stressed.

Perović also linked the allegations to what he called an ongoing campaign of intimidation, citing a previous attack on his property.

“After the explosive attack on my property, this is clearly another attempt to intimidate me. I want to tell them I see these attacks as further motivation to continue our political struggle, together with my comrades, to free Zubin Potok from illegal and illegitimate representatives,” he said.

The initial claims were published by the Pristina-based outlet Teve1, which said it had “exclusive information” implicating Perović in the Banjska attack. The report was widely picked up by other Albanian-language portals and social media pages.

Tevë1 also published a photograph of an armed and masked man, reportedly “taken by drone in the yard of the Banjska monastery,” and another picture allegedly showing Perović with Milan Radoičić in Belgrade in 2023.

In the same report, the outlet quoted Izmir Zeqiri, the acting mayor of Zubin Potok, as saying Perović is “close to Radoičić” and claiming that several Srpska Lista candidates are also allegedly linked to him.
