“Following the murder of Oliver Ivanovic, the United States decided to close all open issues in the Balkans, and the first task was Macedonia joining NATO,” claimed an opposition MP in the Greek parliament, the president of the Potami party, and a deputy from the second electoral district of Thessaloniki, Stavros Theodorakis. “The protection of the energy belt from the Black Sea to the Adriatic Sea is a strategic goal for NATO and the EU,” but there are „other things“ such as „narcotics and smuggling“. Theodorakis described Ivanovic as „a moderate“ man, who „often talked about illegal drug and oil trafficking in Kosovo“. „Fear of Russia and fear that Skopje will fall under Russian influence, have set the West, Europe and America in motion,“ he said, referring to Russia’s support for former Macedonian President, Nikola Gruevski, who fled to Hungary after being removed from office.
A debate on the ratification of the Prespa Agreement is underway in the Greek parliament. Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras has arrived in the parliament building. The ratification itself will be voted on late tonight, as approximately 300 MPs are planning to address the parliament. Most of the Potami MPs, although part of the opposition, will vote for the Prespa Agreement and allow Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to secure an absolute majority of votes, 151 (out of a total of 300), of the MPs in the Greek Parliament.

„How is it not a problem for us that all of our allies, all those who support us on the Cyprus issue and keep Turkey under control, those who helped our economy in difficult moments, all the allies of Greece – will be on the opposite side if we reject this agreement. Turkey and Russia will be the only ones to celebrate.
Things should be called by their proper name. No Greek government could impose a change in the name of a neighboring country, if Western diplomacy did not put pressure on this issue to be resolved at this time. Fear of Russia and the fear that Skopje will fall under Russian influence, have set the West, Europe and America in motion.

In the spring of 2017, the Russian ambassador to [FYROM] Macedonia, after several months without a government having formed, called on Gruevski for Macedonia (that is how the Russians have been calling them since the very first moment) to seek Russian protection and to abandon the idea of NATO membership. That call was publicly addressed. As you probably know, in the fall of 2016 there was a failed coup that was supported by Russia. At that moment the Americans woke up and began to pressure and demand from President Ivanov to give a mandate to form a government to Zaev, a moderate politician.

At the beginning of 2018, Ivanovic, a moderate Serb politician, was killed, who often spoke about the illegal trade in narcotics and oil in Kosovo. According to all analysts, at that time, the Americans decided that open issues should be closed in the Balkans, and the first goal was Macedonia’s [FYR] integration into NATO.“
