The Kosovo Prime Minister, Avdullah Hoti paid an official visit to Paris today, where he met with the French President, Emmanuel Macron. In two days, Macron is set to meet with Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, while both Vucic and Hoti are awaiting the Belgrade-Pristina Summit on Friday, held under the auspices of Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, followed by the official continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Brussels on Sunday, which will also be live-streamed.

Macron welcomed Hoti at the Elysee Palace. According to a statement from the Kosovo government, this reception is a reflection of President Macron’s concern and commitment to Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic future.

Following the meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti stressed that the perspective of the Western Balkans in the European Union is the only opportunity for peace, stability, and prosperity in this part of Europe, assessing that France remains committed to supporting the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

“France remains committed to support Kosovo in the dialogue process with Serbia, which should lead to mutual recognition and the normalization of relations,” Hoti twitted.

The Belgrade-Pristina video summit scheduled for Friday and the continuation of the dialogue for Sunday were confirmed yesterday, but a clear distinction between the two events was not explained. The EU external affairs spokesman Peter Stano, however, revealed that these are „complementary events“.

The intensified activity of the European Union in connection with the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina comes after a meeting of the Serbian and Kosovo delegations was canceled, which was supposed to take place in the White House on June 27th.

The meeting, sponsored by the US Special Envoy for Kosovo and Serbia peace talks, Richard Grenell was canceled after it was announced that the Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office submitted a war crimes indictment against one of the negotiators – the Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.
