„The Government of the Republic of Liberia wishes to refute reports in some international and social media of its revocation of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kosovo“ – it was announced today on the official website of Liberia’s MFA. The announcement follows information that the country had withdrawn the recognition of Kosovo. „This statement provides convincing evidence against fake news, and furious and cruel Serbian propaganda against Kosovo, as it was proved by Guinea Bissau, Ghana and other states“ – it was stated from Pristina.
„According to a Foreign Ministry (of Kosovo) release, Liberia was one of the first countries to recognize Kosovo’s sovereignty on May 30th, 2008 following its declaration of independence, and remains committed to the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations. The two countries continue to enjoy mutual confidence and friendship“ – it was further stated in the press release by the Liberian MFA.
Just two days earlier, the Liberian Foreign Minister Gbehzohngar Milton Findley handed over, to the head of Serbian diplomacy, Ivica Dacic, a note on, as the Belgrade media reported which Dacic also confirmed – its withdrawal of recognition.
The message of gratitude from Belgrade was followed by opposing news from Pristina.
After yesterday’s statement, today the Kosovo Foreign Ministry republished the statement of the Liberian Ministry.
„Facts vs fake news: The Government of Liberia refutes the fake reports by Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic that Liberia has revoked the recognition of Kosovo,“ they further stated on their Twitter account, while publishing a photo of the news about the withdrawal of the recognition and one from the website of the Liberian Government.
