A church and parish home burgled in Babin Most

On the night between the 27th and 28th July thieves burgled the Holy Virgin Serbian Orthodox church in Babin Most (Central Kosovo) and stole €400 from the parish home and the priest’s family jewellery. In the last 4 years this is the fifteenth theft at this church and the perpetrators have never been brought to justice by Kosovo police. The Raska-Prizren Eparchy strongly condemned the attack and are appealing to the police to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

At the time of the burglary, priest Aleksandar Naspalic was on holiday, so none of his family members were present when the temple and the parish home were broken into. The burglary was reported by the Chairman of the Parish Church Committee, Jovica Nikolic, who visited the temple in the priest’s absence.

„Unfortunately, these incidents cause additional turmoil among our clergy and believers and the Eparchy appeals to all those who have any knowledge of the possible perpetrators of this burglary to come to the police as soon as possible and help in the investigation,“ the Eparchy said.

Before the war in 1999, 1,100 Serbs lived in Babin Most, an ethnically-mixed village. Now there are 750 Serbs left in the ethnically mixed village.
