„Folks, just so we’re clear if somebody attacks the Serbs in the north of Kosovo, we have to defend that with military force. Let’s not defend it with prayers. We must be aware of that,“ the Serbian Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic said on TV Pink this morning.
The Foreign Minister criticized his colleague Nenad Popovic, who recently condemned Dacic for saying that the state policy on Kosovo is delimitation, after which Dacic raised the question of Popovic’s further participation in the government, in which he performs the function of a minister without portfolio.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also reiterated his concerns about the possibility of Pristina’s attack on the North during his campaign „The Future of Serbia“:
„… We can bear this loss, as the Serbian economy is growing stronger, we can endure it, but we will not give up our national and state interests, unlike them who threaten us with the unification of Mitrovica on a daily basis and which means expelling our people from North Mitrovica. Our message is quite clear, we will preserve the peace and stability, but do not think that this is a sign of weakness, we will not allow you or anybody else to attack our Serbian people anywhere in Kosovo.“
Regarding Popovic’s claims that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin is against the delimitation idea, Dacic stated that Popovic was probably wrongly informed. Popovic, along with Dacic, he is regarded by the public as a minister who has close ties with Russia.
„He (Nenad Popovic) has no idea that Putin agreed with this proposal five years ago. Putin agreed with this proposal five years ago. I personally talked to Putin, both Vucic and I did countless times,“ Dacic said.
„The journalists asked me whether this delimitation idea was officially presented. So I said that it was officially announced as soon as the president said it. But I said at the same time that there are various other ideas about this and that the talks did not start,“ he explained today, four days after announcing that ethnic delimitation is the official proposal of Serbia regarding the Kosovo issue, which caused a great reaction among the public.
Dacic recalled that he „put forward such an idea earlier this year, but as an individual“.
„Vucic presented the idea that this is one of the possible ideas. What is controversial in that?! If we talk about compromise, he said that every idea will be finalized and established as an idea and as an agreement that can be achieved and presented before the citizens and before the people,“ he stressed.
“You will find out what the solution is when it is accepted by the Albanians,” Vucic replied yesterday when asked when the citizens of Serbia will find out what is his „idea“ for resolving the Kosovo issue.
„Popovic obviously does not support what President Vucic put forward,“ added Dacic.
