A group of Serbian political activists met yesterday in North Mitrovica for the purposes of further mobilization concerning the current “alarming” situation for Kosovo Serbs which „requires an urgent gathering of all political factors.“
The meeting was held at the invitation of the president of the Serbian National Forum, Momčilo Trajković.
„It was determined that the situation is alarming and that it requires an urgent gathering of all political factors among the Kosovo-Metohija Serbs in order to take responsibility for further processes,“ the Serbian National Forum announced after the meeting.
They agreed that activities should be directed towards all the factors that are responsible for the current situation in Kosovo, including the authorities in Belgrade and Pristina and the international community.
Moreover, they agreed that special efforts should be directed towards the intellectual elite, namely, the University, the non-governmental sector, and the Serbian Orthodox Church.
They reiterated that a request should be sent to Bishop Teodosije as soon as possible to schedule a meeting to reach an agreement to urgently hold a town hall meeting.
At the same time, the participants agreed to meet in the coming period to „join national and political forces in order to consolidate the leadership and take responsibility and encourage the Serbian people to endure the militant attacks of Kurti’s government in these most difficult times.“
The meetings will be held twice a month. The next meeting will take place in Gracanica.
The meeting held last night was attended by Momčilo Trajković, president of the SNF and member of the SNV presidency (who headed the meeting), Aleksandar Arsenijević, president of the Serbian Democracy (SD), Milija Biševac, president of the Serbian People’s Party (SNP), Jovica Nikolić from the National Movement of Serbs from Kosovo „Otadžbina“, Marko Jakšić, political activist, Valentina Djerković (SD), Stefan Veljković (SD), Dejan Nedeljković, political activist, Stefan Veljković, political activist, Slaviša Biševac (SNP), Djordje Dobrić (SNP) and Aleksandar Stojanović, political activist.
The SNF stated that the President and Vice President of Srpska Lista, Dr. Zlatan Elek and Dr. Dragiša Milović, were invited to the meeting, but that they did not respond to the invitation.
