The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic said on Saturday Serbia will wait for Pristina to abolish the tariffs on Serbian goods, adding that Serbia will not thank them for that.
„We will not thank them when they abolish the tariffs but will tell them how much unlawful damage they have done to us, what they’ve done against our country and our people, and we’ll continue to work to try to make this damage incomparably less in the future,“ Vucic said, adding that it did not even cross his mind to thank „the ones who ruined our economy.“
Speaking about the request of some European partners for Serbia to praise the partial abolition of the taxes, Vucic compared it to an „abuser who beats his wife“ all the while promising that „he will not do it anymore“.
„Well, this is what some European countries would like to happen because they support Kurti because he is oriented against the Americans. They are pitting him against Americans because of the conflict that apparently exists between the various Western powers,“ he added.
The Serbian President said the US position was very rational and principled when it comes to abolishing Pristina’s tariffs.
The Serbian President also addressed the Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin Kurti’s interview with the German newspaper FAZ (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung).
It is clear that the Pristina government is increasingly turning against Donald Trump and his men, he explained.
Vucic recalled Kurti’s alleged “open attack” on the US Special Envoy for Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Richard Grenell and “a covert attack” on President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor, Robert O’Brien, describing it as an “unwise move.”
Vucic quoted Kurti as saying that „a signature under something obtained by threats and coercion cannot be valid and legitimate,“ stating that it is „the only thing that he agrees with him on.”
The president stated that he was „very pleased“ by this sentence, adding that he would quote it „wherever he went“ and would „ask“ everyone to appreciate Kurti’s arguments, because, „anything that was obtained through force and aggression in Kosovo cannot be legitimate.“
The President also talked about his upcoming Berlin visit, saying that it would be “of the utmost significance” for Serbia.
The talks on Kosovo will not be easy – he warned, adding that, at the moment, he sees no Brussels’s initiative when it comes to the Kosovo issue.
