„Serb people in Kosovo, I am telling you, you will see who is faithful and who is the betrayer, who will protect and who did not protect Kosovo and Metohija,“ the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said in Krusevac today.
Orthodox believers are marking the holiday of Vidovdan today, which holds a strong historical significance for the Serb people. The central and traditional celebration of the holiday is a liturgy that was served this morning in Gracanica, followed by a memorial service in Gazimestan.
The President congratulated the holiday of Vidovdan to Kosovo Serbs.
„There is no greater holiday than Vidovdan. Serb people in Kosovo, may you have a happy Vidovdan, may you have a happy holiday and I am telling you – people in Kosovo, you will see who is faithful and who is the betrayer, who will protect and who did not protect Kosovo and Metohija,“ said Vucic.
Vidovdan is also celebrated in Krusevac, the place where the Knight Lazar’s army took communion shortly before the Kosovo Battle. The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, laid a wreath at the Monument to Kosovo Heroes in this town this morning.
„Vidovdan is marked today – a day when everything can be seen, a day when you can see who is faithful and who is the betrayer, a day that is a symbol of the greatness of our people. A day when our defeats showed how big we are, even though we are small in number,“ the President of Serbia said.
The president claimed that „the terrible end of Kosovo’s heroes was the beginning for us“, adding that peace is the basic condition for a strong Serbia.
„They warn us not to beat our chests, to do everything to create generations that will only know for peace, a generation that will not die, that is our most sacred obligation. They gave their lives so that we could live freely. We must fulfill that duty, create generations of peace and life, growth and work, and a state that will be the guarantor of their freedom with its strength,“ the president said.
Vucic also stressed that „we must not pass on conflicts” to our children.
„We have to do our best to put an end to death. It is the biggest monument to Lazar and Milos and all Kosovo heroes. Freedom is holy, but peace is also holy, and these two together are worth the most.“
He assessed that today Serbs celebrate Vidovdan as winners, free and proud people.
„Defeat and surrender are no longer an option for us. Long live Serbia,“ Vucic concluded.
The wreath-laying ceremony in Krusevac was attended by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, and the Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Darija Kisic Trpavcevic, representatives of the Serbian Army, the Ministry of Defense, and the City of Krusevac.
