Vucic on Kosovo: I am in no hurry

„Every year I listen to the same thing – he will have to recognize Kosovo, that’s why he is in a hurry. I am in no hurry and we are in no hurry, we simply have our constitutional and legal obligations and we are going to the polls in accordance with them,“ the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic said today.

When asked about the statement by Boris Tadic, who said that the US Special Envoy, Richard Grenell expects Vucic to resolve the Kosovo issue by the end of the year, the Serbian President pointed out that he has been listening to the same stories since 2012. He also emphasized that he is in no hurry.

„As far as Kosovo is concerned, I have been listening to those stories since 2012, 2013. When some people visit the Western embassies, they claim that Vucic is a Serbian nationalist, that he is deceiving them and that he will never give anything when it comes to Kosovo,“ he said.

Vucic stressed that he has been hearing stories on how he will „have to recognize Kosovo“ ever since 2013 and that it is the reason why he is in a hurry to get somewhere.

„I am not in any hurry and we are not in a hurry, we simply have our constitutional and legal obligations and we are going to the polls in accordance with them,“ the President of Serbia said.

There is no solution on the table, nor are we talking to anyone about Kosovo, he emphasized.

„As far as Kosovo is concerned – I am not talking to anyone, there are no talks, there are no ideas, there is no solution on the table about anything, so I do not know what I can tell you,“ Vucic added.

He also pointed out that he worked on the issue of Kosovo and the survival of the Kosovo Serbs.

„Will I advocate for keeping the peace? I will always advocate for keeping the peace, but whenever it was necessary to show the strength and resolve of Serbian politics, I was the one who did it even when it comes to the issue of Kosovo and the survival of our people in Kosovo. I think people know that,“ Vucic concluded.
