The head of the Kosovo Office, Marko Djuric went to Berlin on Wednesday for a meeting with the Pristina delegation and to arrange a meeting planned to be held in Paris on July 1 – the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic confirmed today.
The President, however, added that he is more than 99% sure that this meeting will not happen.
Vucic confirmed the news of the meeting between the two delegations a day after it was published by the media in Pristina, and later picked up by the Serbian media.
The Belgrade delegation, led by the head of the Kosovo Office, Marko Djuric and the Pristina delegation, led by the head of the Kosovo Prime Minister’s Cabinet, Selim Selimi, met two days ago in Berlin.
The purpose of the meeting was to try to unblock the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, while „hot political issues“, such as the ASM (Association of Serb-majority Municipalities) and the taxes, were not discussed – the Pristina-based Koha reported yesterday, citing the statement made by former head of the Kosovo delegation in the technical dialogue with Serbia, Avni Arifi.
Vucic stressed today that the meeting however was „no secret“ but „an ordinary preparatory meeting for Paris.“
„As you know, after that meeting I told you that I believe that the Paris (summit) will not happen,“ said Vucic, adding that he „personally sent Djuric.“
„I told him that Serbia should be constructive, that we want to continue the dialogue and that the only thing important is to abolish those anti-civilized taxes, but as I said, abolishing the taxes didn’t even cross the minds of the Albanians, thus there are no results,“ he added.
The President estimated that the Germans and the French „know well who does not want dialogue, who is hindering the dialogue, and who is the one who wants someone else to deal with dialogue rather than Europe.“
„We are not saying that someone else should not have a say. We just say that they want them to be the only ones to have a say. Of course, I am talking about the US,“ he underlined.
When asked whether he is now, especially after this preparatory meeting, still 99% positive that the meeting in Paris will not happen – as he said several days ago, the president smiled and replied: „Of course – even more.“
