Two days after the President of the Social Democratic Initiative of Kosovo, Fatmir Limaj, shared his suspicion on Kanal 10 that the March 17th violence was organized by the Serbian secret services, the first reaction arrived from the Visoki Decani monastery.
„Statements by some Kosovo Albanian politicians that Serbs destroyed their own churches are absurd and immoral,“ the monastery said in a statement.
The monastery’s reaction arrived this morning after KoSSev published a part of the transcript of Limaj’s guest appearance on Kanal 10 last night, during which he shared his suspicion that Serbian services organized the violence against the Serb people.
The former KLA member and post-war politician claimed that „Albanians are the most tolerant of peoples“, and that Kosovo Albanians view the SOC churches in Kosovo as their own and their pride. “Has it ever been in our (Albanian) tradition to burn churches?” Limaj asked.
In response, Visoki Decani recalled: “150 Serbian Orthodox churches in Kosovo were destroyed by Kosovo Albanian ultranationalists and many of these acts of vandalism were video recorded. No one has answered for these crimes.”
The Decani monastery also shared a well-known video from 2004, filmed near the church of St. Ilija in Podujevo, showing the extremists torching the church, and several of them climbing the domes and destroying and tearing down crosses.

In the same talk show, Limaj also accused the Serbian secret services of planning to assassinate both him and the former Self-Determination MP, Rexhep Selimi, who is currently in The Hague.
This is the latest in a series of accusations made against the Serbian secret services regarding alleged assassination plots.
The statement by former European Commission Special Rapporteur Dick Marty „that radical elements of the Serbian intelligence services want to eliminate him, in order to blame Kosovars“, as a result of which he has been under police protection for two years now, prompted several Pristina officials to share these accusations.
Serbia’s Security Information Agency (BIA) itself, however, denied Marty’s allegations.
