After announcing on Twitter that the first „1 out of 5 million“ protest will be held on Saturday in North Mitrovica, the SDP councilor in the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, Marko Jaksic, received a threat.
Twitter user „Balkanfox“ sent threats to Jaksic.
„Pal, you need to be hanged in the middle of Terazije as an example. Shame on you, you are dividing the people, with all their troubles that is the last thing they need down there. Like they care about politics. Are you doing a favor to the Albanians??? My goodness, what you are doing!!!!!!,“ user Balkanfox tweeted.
Marko Jaksic told RTV Kim that he reported threats.
„Nowadays, anyone threatening anyone with a hanging on Terazije, and after what happened to Oliver, provokes reasons for concern, so I conveyed the contents of the same tweet to the Prosecutor’s Office for High Tech Crime in Belgrade and I expect their reaction, because in the 21st century political disagreements are solved with arguments, not hanging,“ said Jaksic.
Jaksic announced last night that a protest will be held in North Mitrovica this Saturday. The goal of the protest walk is for the residents of Northern Mitrovica and the north of Kosovo, as well as other Serb-majority communities in Kosovo, to show solidarity with the people, and their demands, in other parts of Serbia, who have been protesting for weeks.
The protest was reported to the Kosovo Police today.
„The main goal of the gathering is that we want to send a message to everyone, but primarily to the representatives of Serbia – that we have the right to free opinion, speech and elections, the right to be different from others, even if we are an absolute minority and the right to not have any more bashed heads, burned cars, pressures, layoffs, threats or what happened to Oliver Ivanovic because of these differences,“ Jaksic told KoSSev.
The demands are the same as those in other cities in Serbia, the most important of which is to discover the instigators and perpetrators of Oliver’s murder, Jaksic pointed out.
