The barricades set up by the Serbs in the north twenty days ago were dismantled today – just one day after Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced their removal, after meeting with representatives of the Serbs from the north of Kosovo. The removal underwent – as requested by KFOR – peacefully, without any incidents, but with the presence of a large number of media teams.

Before the barricades were removed, two trucks were set on fire at the barricade installed on the new bridge in North Mitrovica this morning.

While some citizens express disappointment over this decision, others welcomed it and the fact that they would no longer have to go to the barricades.

While the barricades were being removed, Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, held a media conference – to which newsrooms reporting from the north had not been invited. „They set up the barricades themselves, and removed them themselves,“ Kurti said.

At the same time, catering facilities in North Mitrovica will remain open until 11:00 p.m starting from tonight. Electricity restrictions in this town, which lasted for two days due to a failure on the Valac-Mitrovica transmission line, have also ended.
