Five vehicles, four vans and one passenger car, were confiscated last night in Kremestak in the Zvecan municipality under suspicion that they were used to smuggle goods, the Kosovo police confirmed for KoSSev.
The event took place at approximately 22:45.
The border unit of the Kosovo Police first pulled over four vans loaded with goods near the „Hajdučki Konak“ restaurant.
Due to suspicion that the goods were contraband, they were immediately sent to the Customs Terminal, Veton Elshani, Deputy Commander of the KP for the region north, confirmed for KoSSev.
According to Elshani, the police also sent two more passenger cars to the terminal due to suspicions that they were used to verify that the road ahead of the vehicles carrying goods was clear.
All six drivers were detained and released after giving a statement.
In the meantime, Customs decided to return one of the six vehicles.
The police opened a case of „smuggling of goods“.
As the KP reported in the meantime, out of the five seized vehicles, four have Serbian license plates, while one has Kosovo license plates.
Mainly food products, chemicals, and soft drinks were confiscated, which the police suspect to have been smuggled from Serbia.
