„I would like to warn Pristina that the Serbian people will not allow the ethnic cleansing of Serb political representatives through the use of institutional pressure and violence and with the aim of subjugating and decapitating the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija,“ Srpska Lista chief, Goran Rakic stated, reacting to the news that the Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into statements made by Ivan Todosijevic, a member of Srpska Lista and the recently dismissed Minister of Local Government Administration. During the ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the NATO bombing in Zvecan, Todosijevic stated that the reason behind the bombing was „the fictitious Racak“ incident fabricated by „Shiptar terrorists“.
We publish Goran Rakic’s statement in its entirety.
The announcement that proceedings were initiated to establish some kind of responsibility of a member of the Presidency of Srpska Lista, Ivan Todosijevic, is a continuation of the policy of intimidation of all free-thinking Serbs who have never wavered in the fight for their people and their Serbia, nor in their clear struggle for the truth.
After the attempted murder of the Vice-President of Srpska Lista, Milan Radoicic in November last year, this is yet another process by which Pristina wants to silence Srpska Lista and the Serbian people so that the truth about the suffering and pain of our people in the past twenty years is not heard.
We have shown readiness to keep our composure and not allow for our people to fall for Pristina’s provocations in the previous period in order to preserve peace. Nevertheless, as the President of Srpska Lista, I would like to warn Pristina that the Serbian people will not allow ethnic cleansing of Serbian political representatives to be carried out through the use of institutional pressure and violence with the aim of subjugating and decapitating the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija.
Pristina’s intent is obvious and we cannot stand idly by as the best among us are ruined with staged indictments and expelled from Kosovo and Metohija.
We will most seriously take into consideration any activity directed against any Serb. Our clear message is that we will not allow them to continue with pressures, terror and expulsion of anyone who does not suit them, until they break the freedom-loving spirit of our people.
I also call on the international community, primarily representatives of the EU, UNMIK, but also the embassies in Pristina, to swiftly respond to these provocations and prevent further escalation of the situation in the field which can inflict unprecedented damage in this area.
