Russian Ambassador to Tirana, said the ‘border adjustment’ proposal between Kosovo and Serbia is a US project.

Asked on Russia’s position on the border adjustment proposal which has triggered reaction in Kosovo, Serbia and the region, Russian Ambassador to Albania, Aleksandar Karpusin, said that Russians have never commented on this issue. “I don’t know why you are asking me as a representative of Russia, to comment on an idea which is being promoted by the US officials,” Karpusin told Tirana based TV A2 CNN.

“Russian officials have never commented on the redrawing of borders in the region. Russia fully supports the current dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. President Vladimir Putin has stated many times that our country is ready to accept every solution which is mutually acceptable to parties involved in dialogue and which is in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 1244,” Karpusin said.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci is promoting the idea on the ‘correction of borders’ between Kosovo and Serbia as part of the final comprehensive agreement with Serbia. His idea is being opposed by Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and political parties.
