The opposition group “Otadžbina” has accused Belgrade of colluding with Pristina over Kosovo Police raid on the offices of Serbia’s health and pension insurance fund in North Mitrovica.
In a statement, Otadžbina alleged that the incursion into the Republican Health and Pension Insurance Fund premises in North Mitrovica was “the result of an agreement reached in Brussels between the head of Serbia’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, and the representative of Pristina.”
The group said it was telling that, even before police had withdrawn from the building, Belgrade had reportedly already ordered the Fund’s staff to prepare to relocate their operations to Raška and Novi Pazar in central Serbia.
They recalled that the building is owned by the Republic Health Insurance Fund, purchased in 2006 with all permits registered under UNMIK, and criticized the Fund for remaining silent despite what they called an attack on its property and employees.
Otadžbina claims the move is part of a broader policy under the “Ohrid agenda” to dismantle Serbian state institutions in Kosovo and “complete the statehood of the so-called Kosovo.”
“Once he advocated for a Greater Serbia, now he is creating a Greater Albania,” the statement said, in a swipe at Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
“The Gnostics would say — it doesn’t matter whether it’s Serbia or Albania, what matters is that it’s ‘Greater.’”
The group further criticized Belgrade for not attempting to organize the work of these services within the hospital compound in North Mitrovica — which, they argued, would have been in the patients’ interest.
They also noted that branches of the health insurance fund in Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Leposavic were not targeted by Kosovo authorities but nevertheless stopped working on the same day, allegedly under orders from Belgrade.
According to Otadžbina, the disruption directly threatens the survival of Serbs in Kosovo:
“Patients needing further treatment, sick leave or any medical paperwork from the north of Kosovo must now rush to Raška. The shutdown of health and pension insurance functions endangers the very existence of Serbs here,” the statement concluded.
