Employees of several state institutions in North Mitrovica rallied today for a couple of hours in front of the Kosovo police station after the municipal inspector, N. R., was being questioned over threats he allegedly made against the leader of the civic initiative „Srpski Opstanak“ Aleksandar Arsenijevic.
Arsenijevic confirmed for KoSSev last night that he reported the municipal inspector (N.R.) to the Kosovo Police for purportedly threatening him. He says that he was threatened by N.R. while trying to report “excavations on the promenade.”
He raised objections over a large platform being erected in the main street of North Mitrovica, next to the SNS/Srpska Lista premises, trying to ask Mayor Milan Radojevic about the legality of the construction but was ignored. He was then shortly answered by the inspector that all licenses have been obtained but he reported to be later contacted by N.R. who threatened his personal safety and security.
Arsenijevic also added that N.R. was allegedly “a high-ranking member and man of operation with Srpska Lista”.
KoSSev was unable to confirm Arsenijevic’s allegations at the time, considering that the municipal inspector in question cut the telephone conversation short as soon as our journalist introduced himself and tried to pose questions.
At noon today, several dozen of North Mitrovica citizens gathered in front of the Kosovo Police station in this town, while several hundred of them lined up along the street. The street was open to traffic, after being briefly blocked by a civilian vehicle, a tanker, and a pickup truck.
The gathered citizens refused to speak to the media, while several of them unofficially revealed that they themselves did not know the purpose of being sent away from their jobs.
KP also did not give details about the reason for the gathering.

Lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic told KoSSev on the spot that N.R. was giving a statement to the police about an alleged threat he made to another person, emphasizing that he voluntarily reported himself to the police.
„He came of his own free will because he wanted to clarify this situation, which he did not cause in any way and which only causes him inconvenience,“ Vlajic said, adding:
„Whether this is true or not, it will be determined within the regular procedure.“

Two hours after the citizens started gathering, municipal inspector N.R. left the police station in North Mitrovica. He was greeted with applause from employees of institutions in the north and members of his family.
„It is difficult to be a Serb in North Mitrovica. As far as the police officers are concerned, kudos to them, but as far as the accuser is concerned, I have no words,“ N.R. this time briefly told KoSSev when asked what happened.
