A vehicle owned by the head of the Leposavic Municipal Assembly, Gorski Burić, was partially burned early this morning. The police suspect arson.
The Kosovo police confirmed in a statement for KoSSev that the incident took place after midnight, between 3 am and 4 am.
The deputy commander of the Kosovo Police of the region north, Veton Elshani, emphasized that the vehicle was only partially burned, namely the front part of the car, where the engine is located.
The vehicle in question is a Fiat Punto car with RKS license plates from the Mitrovica region.
„The police suspect that it was a case of arson, that someone torched it purposely. We found a liquid that is suspected to be gasoline,“ said Elshani.
He added that they have no suspects so far, noting that the investigation is ongoing.
In the meantime, the Kosovo police issued a statement saying that their officers conducted an investigation and that a plastic bottle and a rag smelling of gasoline were found next to the car’s engine, suspected to have been used to set the car on fire.
Vokrri: Torching after threats by Radoičić’s militants
The Deputy Minister of Local Self-Government Administration of Kosovo, Arbër Vokrri, previously reacted to the torching, sharing a photograph of the mentioned car.
„The burning of the car of the President of the Leposavic Municipal Assembly comes after frequent threats by Radoičić’s militants to the Serbs, who drove them out of the courts and institutions,“ he alleged.
He also claimed that the message „you’re dead“ appeared on the car of one of the employees in the municipality of Leposavic.
„Even the physical harassment of their colleagues by the secret service and the police of the fascist regime in Belgrade, every time they go to visit family in Serbia, is done with the same message: ‘don’t get close to the Albanians and don’t accept Kosovo as your country!'“ Adds Vokrri.
The Kosovo police reported this morning that they received a report from Leposavic yesterday about a threatening message being written on a windshield in Serbian.
„According to the victim, it was done out of political reasons, because the victim claims to have received anonymous threatening phone calls,“ the police report states.
The deputy minister also claims that Serbs in Kosovo must be encouraged „not to bow down under the pressure of terrorists, but also from the propaganda of some of our media, which are mercenaries of Vučić in the agenda for the destabilization and mutilation of Kosovo“.
„My engagement in the north was and remains focused on affirmation and encouragement of the Serbs so that they do not feel abandoned and betrayed because of their loyalty to the building of our institutions,“ Vokrri concluded.
