For the first time, the Kosovo police announced the official number of barricades in the north. A total of nine barricades have been installed, the KP confirmed.
In the same statement, the police underlined that since barricades were set up, the security situation in the north of Kosovo has remained the same, while the Jarinje and Brnjak border crossings are still closed.
„Road blockades and attacks by criminal groups have created new work conditions and affected the lives of citizens, who cannot move freely and do not have easy access to necessary services,“ the KP stated.
At the same time, they noted that they are cooperating with the relevant security institutions. The KP added that they are working on taking legal measures „in the interest of enabling free movement and bringing suspects before the judicial authorities.“
They also say that they are engaged in ensuring security for all citizens.
Ten days have passed since the barricades in the north of Kosovo were set up by the local Serbs, following the arrest of the former policeman, Dejan Pantic. Barricades are located in the municipalities of Leposavic, Zubin Potok, and Zvecan in several locations. Main roads in the area remain closed to traffic.
