Kosovo Serb dismissed from war crimes charges

Kosovo Serb Dejan Slavic was dismissed from war crimes charges today. Following the Pristina Basic Court’s decision, he was released and is currently on his way home to Lazarevac, a city in central Serbia where he settled after leaving Obilic in June ’99.

The court’s decision was confirmed to KoSSev by his attorney Nebojsa Vlajic.

„The court rescinded his detention and released him from custody. The decision read that there are no further reasons to keep him in custody. However, other details have not been reported, but most likely it is that his identity was confused with another wanted person,“ said Vlajic.

Slavic was arrested earlier this month at the Jarinje border crossing in the north of Kosovo and was charged with war crimes in the village of Krusevac near Obilic. He is the latest Serb, out of four, that has been arrested for war crimes since August last year.
