The young men who were arrested last week are currently at the North Kosovo Police Station, where they are being questioned by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, according to KoSSev’s findings.
This interrogation is reportedly part of an investigation into the conduct of the police during the night of their arrest.
The young men were brought to the station by the police, as they have been under house arrest since September 11.
The investigation is reportedly focused on the actions of the police during the arrest of the four young men, which took place between September 9 and 10 in North Mitrovica.
Veton Elshani, the Deputy Commander of the Kosovo Police for the North, has neither confirmed nor denied these allegations.
To gather more details about the stage of the investigation, KoSSev reached out to the Kosovo Police Inspectorate just before publishing the news item.
The four men were initially arrested on charges of allegedly insulting and attacking two police officers on the Mitrovica promenade that same night.
Videos of the arrests later surfaced on social media, showing the incident occurring a few hundred meters away from the promenade.
Some citizens claimed that the young men were beaten before and during the arrest.
Srđan Sentić, Deputy Ombudsman of Kosovo, and the lawyer for one of the arrested individuals confirmed that there was physical contact by the police and psychological abuse of the arrested.
The allegations of violence sparked an almost day-long protest involving hundreds of people outside the police station in North Mitrovica on September 11.
Following the protest and the expiration of police custody, the young men were placed under a one-month house arrest order.
