Kosovo Office: Hoti threatens with a non-existent force, actualizes dreams of a ‘Greater Albania’

„Each public disclosure of claims towards other people’s territories are a threat to the stability of the region and will inevitably affect the deterioration of inter-ethnic relations in Kosovo and Metohija. The latest provocation by DPK official Rexhep Hoti again actualizes fascist dreams of creating a so-called ‘Greater Albania’, but also the so-called ‘green transversal’ in the Balkans,“ the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said today.

The announcement came after Belgrade media reported Hoti’s comments on Kosovo’s division in the Pristina-based Lajmi and that „he claims that the division of Kosovo is not on the agenda, but if it were, it would mean that Kosovo would take Sandzak and part of the south Serbia.“

Lajmi, however, also reported that „Kosovo’s division is increasingly being promoted by Serbian politicians,“ and that Aleksandar Vulin, Rasim Ljajic and Ivica Dacic „mentioned this option several times“ and „consider that it is very positive for Serbia.“

At the beginning of the year, Vulin spoke about the idea of „demarcation“ in public on two occasions.

However, there was no reaction from officials in Belgrade on Vulin’s message from this weekend.

They also cited Hoti who said that the division was „not on the agenda, it cannot be if Kosovo does not take Sandzak, Presevo Valley and its part of Montenegro“.

“These are some ‘small’ aspects that complicate the division of Kosovo,“ he added.

Hoti’s message followed the statement by the Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin, who commented during the weekend, that he considers “demarcation“ as the solution for Kosovo and as a way to „stop the expansion of Greater Albania.“ He also warned Europe about „Greater Albania,“ and, as he said, „the blood and soil policy.“

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija describe the words of this DPK official as „belligerent“, which „is based on a false idea of one’s own power“, but also on the „fear“ of:

„The fact that it is becoming increasingly apparent throughout the world that the support to Albanian separatists in Kosovo and Metohija was a mistake and that their criminal creation, born from violence and the violation of international law, is unsustainable.“

They estimate that Hoti, „instead of threatening with a non-existent force,“ along with his party colleagues, he „should be concerned with the question, why young people are mindlessly running to the West from their criminal-terrorist creation.“

Serbia will continue to „constructively contribute to the stability of the region“, as well as to „work with the responsible part of the international community on building sustainable peace in this region,“ the office concluded.
