Putting a label on civil society organizations by Bislimi is against the spirit of the Dialogue, against European values, and democratic principles, the Working Group of the National Convention on the EU responded to yesterday’s criticism from Pristina.

Members of the NCEU Working Group for Chapter 35 and a delegation of Serbs from Kosovo stayed in Brussels this week, where they met with the EU envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, and other European officials, in order to better acquaint them with the challenges the Kosovo Serbian community is facing.

Lajčak then said on the social network „X“ that the meeting was very useful.

In the meantime, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, reacted, criticizing Lajčak, as well as the delegation that met with him, stating that they are NGOs from Kosovo that „actively and openly advocate against the integration of Serbs into Kosovo’s institutions.“

The same message was disseminated separately by Self-Determination, which published Bislimi’s comments on social media networks through an infographic, alleging that Lajčak applied an „unfair“ and „non-neutral“ approach to the normalization process.

One of the members of the delegation of Serbs from Kosovo, Jovana Radosavljević, commenting on Bislimi’s allegations, told KoSSev yesterday that it was a case of a well-known pressure on civil society and the media.

A day later, NCEU Working Group reacted, in a similar tone to Radosavljević, saying that labeling CSOs “is against the spirit of the Dialogue, against European values, and democratic principles.”

Therefore, they added that Bislimi’s statement “must be condemned by the Kosovo Government, the European Union, and the Quint member states.”

On the other hand, they underlined that Working Group for Chapter 35 actively works on monitoring, improving, and promoting the Dialogue on normalization, as well as on reconciliation between the Albanian and Serb communities.

“We do not view the Dialogue as rivalry between the two enemies, but as a process that should ensure permanent peace, bring better life for all people regardless of their nationality or ethnicity, as well as European integration and economic prosperity for the entire region. The work of the Working Group is public, and all participants in the dialogue benefit from our results, including Mr Bislimi.”

Finally, they concluded that National Convention on European Union is a network of civil society organizations whose work is independent, and it does not represent the views of any state institutions, bilateral or international organizations.
