Kosovo: 86 child beggars identified, most of them from Albania

Kosovo police identified 86 child beggars and launched 15 cases related to abuse or neglect of children. All of them were identified as part of the campaign conducted in June throughout Kosovo – the Kosovo police said in a statement today.

Out of 86 children, 58 of them are Albanian citizens, and 28 are from Kosovo. Criminal charges were filed against the parents related to the cases of abuse and neglect of children.

„There is no evidence that the children are victims of human trafficking,“ KP added, stating that Albanian citizens are under the jurisdiction of the Migration Directorate and the Border Police in order to carry out „actions based on the rights of foreigners“.

Identical cases were also recorded last year.
