„I think that the four municipalities of North Kosovo should be reintegrated into the territorial composition of Serbia and to provide the highest international standard for protecting Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija, to protect church property and to seek some kind of exterritorialy,“ says the president Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik.
This is a time of Serbian demands, not expectations
„When I told foreigners in Brussels that they could show good will and that at least those four municipalities would stay in Serbia, they say, ‘But none of you are asking it from us,'“ he said in an interview for Belgrade’s Blic.
„The problem of our policy is that we are expecting something but we are not looking for it. That does not work,“ he adds.
So, I think this is the time for Serbia’s demand, not expectations, said the President of Republika Srpska.
Vucic succeeded in returning Kosovo from being a lost issue
Dodik praises the efforts of his colleague, Serbia’s President – Aleksandar Vucic, in regard to solving the Kosovo issue.
„Vucic succeeded in bringing Kosovo back as a lost issue, abandoned, people were disinterested. Now we have come to the position that maybe we can do something,“ Dodik adds.
He believes a „lucky circumstance” for Serbia is that the past elites „have disappeared“.
If anything is correct, then it is not the Clinton team in the United States, adds Dodik.
Serbia is not ready to resume Kosovo’s return to itself
Dodik posed a question on whether Serbia could sustain to have Kosovo become part of it again, which would mean it will have to allow Albanians guaranteed political quotas.
„In order to get internationally legitimized, you would have to provide 30 percent of the parliament seats for Albanians. You would have also to provide them positions – either the prime minister or the president of the assembly, or the place of the president of the state. You would have to introduce their language, at least in assembly. If somebody thinks we can do it, then let’s push for it. But I do not think there is such readiness,“ Dodik replied.
